Also known as longarmed feather stitch, cretan stitch is a filling or border stitch with a plaited appearance along the centre. The stitches can be worked close together or spaced apart.
- Bring the needle through at top center and take a small stitch at the right side.
- Take a stitch on the left side, needle pointing inward and with the thread under the needle point (A).
- Take a stitch on right side in the same way (B).
- Continue from side in the same way (B).
- Continue from side toside until the shape is filled.
