crochet_snowflake

It is very nice to do Christmas decorations using crochet and colored yarns. I decided to use DMC Babylo crochet yarn to do white snowflakes. They are very useful as placeholder, to decorate Christmas tree or christmas gifts.

Here below there are the instructions to realize crochet snowflakes

Material

  • DMC Babylo n. 20
  • Crochet Hook n. 1.25

Abbreviations

Ch – chain stitch

dc – double crochet

dtr – double treble crochet

hdc – half double crochet

sc – single crochet

sp(s) – space(s)

tr – treble crochet

YO -yarn over

How to do Cluster

To work Cluster, ch3, YO, insert hook in third ch from hook, YO and pull up a loop, Yo and draw through 2 loops on hook, Yo, insert hook in same ch, Yo and pull a loop, YO and draw through 2 loops on hook, YO and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

 

Instructions

Rnd. 1 (Right Side): Ch 8,(dc, ch 4) 5 times in eight ch from hook; join with slip st tofourth ch of beginning ch-8: 6ch-4 sps.

Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc, now and throughout), (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next ch-4 sp, *dc in next dc, (2dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next ch-4 sp; repeat from * around; join with slip st to first dc: 30dc.

Rnd. 3: Slip st in next 2 dc and in next ch 3 sp, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 5, 3 dc) in same sp, * ch 3, (3 dc, ch 5, 3 dc) in next ch-3 sp; repeat from * around, ch 1, hdc in first dc to form last ch 3 sp: 12 sps.

Rnd 4: Ch1, sc in same sp, ch 1, * ++ (tr, work Cluster) twice in next ch-5 sp, (dtr in same sp, work Cluster) twice, (tr, work Cluster, tr) in same sp, ch 1++, sc in next ch 3 sp, ch 1; repeat from * 4 times more, then repeat from ++ to ++ once; join with slip st to first sc, finish off.
