This stitch resembles a fine cord and is useful for embroidering delicate stems and outlines.

  • Bring the laid threads and the working thread through at (A).
  • Hold the laid threads in position on the line of the design with the left thumb, and work small close Satin Stitches over them.
  • The laid threads are taken through to the back at the end of the line and secured.

  • Bring the needle out on the lower line at the left side and
  • insert on the upper line a little to the right, taking a small stitch to the left with the thread below the needle.
  • Next, insert the needle on the lower line a little to the left with the thread above the needle.

These two movements are worked throughout. For the best effect, the stitches lifted by the needle and the spaces between the stitches should be of eqaul size. Continue reading
